Berge Zobian

Berge Zobian, born in Syria in 1957 and raised in Lebanon, moved to Queens, New York in 1971, at age fourteen with his family, Bérge subsequently studied at Queens College, Photography and Sociology and at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, and completed his schooling with a B.S & M.S, degrees at Rhode Island College. He has taught at Rhode Island College and has been actively immersed in Rhode Island’s vibrant local Armenian community, often initiating public Armenian-related projects and exhibitions tying Armenian art and artists to their rich cultural heritage and long history. In 1983 Zobian established his name as a photographer by opening his own studio, while helping curate art exhibits for close to 18 years in local businesses and pop up galleries,after which he opened Gallery Z in 2001, in the same building as his photography studio, in the Olneyville section of Providence, RI.
